How to decorate a small living room for Christmas

Hang all the mistletoe- it's Christmas time in our new apartment! I am so thrilled that our place is finally (well 95%) done and feeling like home.

If you couldn't tell, Christmas is my favorite holiday and this is the first time I've really been able to, or at least felt inclined to, decorate a full home. One of the things I loved about this apartment was how much common space there was, and how, even though it is old, has very open space between the living and dining room- great for entertaining!

Mistletoe is such a cute tradition, and I fell in love with this mistletoe kissing ball (which I've never heard of- is this a thing?!) I found at Target's Wondershop. I was originally going to put it under the chandelier, but I thought it really pulled the rooms together in the middle of the pillars (fun fact: they're original from 1880!).

I bought this great side table at Homegoods (for in between the grey armchairs where the tree is currently) and the candle was a housewarming gift from my friend Kelly- it smells like heaven and I plan on buying more since I will most likely burn through it in the next week! The pinecones weren't even planned to go here- Kyle loves cinnamon so we got them to put around the apartment when we were getting garland at Home Depot, but they fit perfectly and looked so cute- it was fate.

I also didn't know what I was going to do with the "cranberry garland" when I got it (also from Target's Wondershop), but I thought it was a nice sophisticated touch added to the chandelier. That was the first decoration I put up, and after that decided that I would go with a traditional red and green theme in the living room.

We were originally going to put our tree on the right side of the room, but Kyle thought of putting it between the chairs so it wasn't hidden. I love it here, and love that it reflects in the mirror when you take pictures from this angle! Growing up, our family tree was always right out of a department store.

I love that we finally have a space that we both love to celebrate holidays and make new memories in. It's also lovely to have multiple rooms and enough room to host friends and entertain during the holiday season- stand by for a post about my holiday party next week! Are you decorating your apartments for Christmas? If so, what are you using as your "decor inspiration"?

Cheers,
